2006 JV Red Game Reports

JV Red vs. Duncanville

By: Jeff Guidry

Martin JV Red traveled for their second district game to Duncanville.  The two teams battled throughout the entire first half and down to the final 6 seconds of the game before Martin created an opportunity with some fine passing and movement to score the 1 and only goal of the game.  Daniel Cauthen scored for Martin with an assist from Sam Valosek.  The MVP award of this game would have to go to Kyle Reamer for a spectacular night of goal tending.  The game was intense and exciting.
Great Job Guys!!!!!

Final 1-0
JV Red vs. Cedar Hill

By: Jeff Guidry

Our first District game matched the JV Red against Cedar Hill.  The guys started out strong and never looked back.  We allowed very little offense from our opponents and we dominated the score board with a final score of  6-0.   Sam Valosek scored 3 of our 6 goals for a hat trick.  Grant Nelson scored our 4th goal.  Cedar Hill scored an unfortunate own goal on a JV red corner kick and Daniel Cauthen scored our 6th and final goal for the spectacular finish.

JV Red vs. Jesuit - Jesuit was first to score and entered half time with a 1-0 lead.  The Warriors were not to be dismissed though and 10 minutes into the second half they scored with a well placed ball crossed by # 18 Grant Nelson  finding the head of # 3 Jeremy Guidry for a ball in the back of the net.  The Jesuit Rangers rallied an attack and ended the game with a second goal to take the lead and win with a final 2-1.

Game 2 of the Tourney found Warriors red against Keller-- The warriors looked well prepared for the game and scored first with an assist from #13 Greg Partridge to  #5 Daniel Cauthen who scored the first goal of the game.  The lead exchanged hands with 2 goals from Keller to end the half a 2-1 advantage for Keller.  The warriors came out in the second half driven and focused on the goal.  Martin scored   3 more goals and held a lead of 4-2 for most of the second half.  Keller launched one final attack and scored, to bring them within one goal .The red defense and determination would prove to be too much. A well deserved CONGRATULATIONS! goes to Martin red for their first win of the season with a final score of 4-3 The second half goals came from #5 Daniel Cauthen assisting #2 J.T. Updegraff (2) , #10 Kevin Van Leeuwen assisting # 11 Sam Valosek (3) and # 3 Jeremy Guidry assisting Sam Valosek(4)  for his second goal of the night.

Game 3 -Warriors vs. Coppell--- Warriors put up a good fight but the cowboys speed and possession of the ball were too much for our team.  The warriors struggled to get an opportunity to play offense and were limited to a few shots on goal.  The final score was 3-0.   We'll just have to beat them in the season.

Warriors start Winning Ways
Martin 4 Keller Central 3

By: Tom Partridge

Coming off of Thursday's lost, this game started out differently with Martin on the attack early. This resulted in an early goal with Greg Partridge on a breakaway down the left side of the field. Greg made a nice cross inside of the box to Daniel Cauthen, who finished with a nice kick past the goalie. The rest of the first half saw Keller on the offense and scoring two goals by sending 4 and 5 players towards the goal. Both goal were setup from a rebound either off the post or off our goalie.  Down 2 to 1 starting the second half, the Warriors turned up the
intensity. The first goal came less than 5 minutes in with Daniel Cauthen on a breakaway and making a pass to JT Undegraff across the face of the goal. JT finished with a hard shot into the lower left side of the goal. The next goal came at the ten minute mark as the Warriors kept up the offensive pressure. This goal started with a hard shot from Kevin Van leewen which rebounded off a Keller defender. Sam Valosek seized this opportunity and placed the ball in the net. The third goal and last goal of the half came less then 2 minutes later. It started with a well placed kick from Jeremy Guidry, near the mid field line, up to Sam Vallosek who was running hard towards the goal. Sam, once again gathered in the ball and made a accurate shot which found the back of the net pass the Keller goalie.  It didn't take long after this goal for Keller to come back and put another score on the board and make the score. 4 to 3 in favor of Martin.  From this point on, both teams worked hard to control the ball and establish any forward momentum but the work of the defenders on both side stopped all offensive threats with the game ending with the first victory of the season for the Martin Warriors JV Red (4 to 3).
