2009 GAME REPORTS

Coppell Tournament
Odessa Permian 1 vs. Martin Warriors 0
By Larry Brown

Friday saw an improvement in play in the mighty Warriors over their previous game.  The offense got a spark early on in the match as Sam Valosek had an opportunity within the first few minutes of the game.  Other scoring opportunities came twenty- five minutes into the match with a great shot from Calvin Hovsepian.  In the second half, Chris Turner had a tremendous shot that just missed. The one lone mistake cost the Warriors when Odessa Permian was given a restart opportunity late in the first half. Fortunately, things would improve on Saturday.

Final Score Odessa Permian 1 Martin 0

GO WARRIORS!!!

Coppell Tournament
Plano East 1  vs. Martin  0
By Larry Brown

Following numerous requests by Alumni and former Booster Club members your favorite reporter Scoop Brown has committed to write these game reports for the 2009 season. The Men in Black began the 2009 high school season with an excellent showing against traditional powerhouse Plano East. The boys displayed a great effort for first year coach Cory Elolf.  Senior forward and Man of the Match Sam Valosek led the team.  Senior Keepers D. J. Sweet and Kyle Reamer made many saves, but the offense was unable to complete any of its numerous scoring opportunities. The boys continue tomorrow with a 6 p.m. match against Odessa Permian at McInnish fields in Carrollton. Please come out and support the team as the Warriors seek their first victory of the year.

GO WARRIORS!!!

Coppell Tournament
Martin Warriors 4 vs. Bastrop 0
By Larry Brown

The 2009 Martin Warriors got on the winning track as they defeated the mighty Bastrop Bears. Our boys dominated play from the beginning, unfortunately this game was played in frigid conditions, and your scruffy reporter was unable to log the times of the goals, but here is the scoring recap. Blake Redus started the scoring on a corner kick from  Shayan Mohammadi.  The second goal was the result of an unassisted blast from Chris Turner 25 yards out.  The third goal was achieved when Taylor Brown initiated a cross to Preston Franks who was there to finish. Lastly Sam Valosek scored with an assist from Justin Trzepacz.

This game saw the first injuries of the season as Chris Hale left the game early due to a head to head collision, which resulted in stitches.  Later, Freshman Center Midfielder Chris Turner left the match with a sprained ankle. Lets hope these players are able to return for the next match, which will be against Ft. Worth’s Polytechnic High School Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m.

Everyone come out and support the team.
